I currently have a http web server and I want to put pokerTH on it so that I can invite friends to play on my private internet server 24/7. How do I go about doing this? Would I have to change the source code, or could I just tell them to change the default internet game connection settings?

Thanks.

You can indeed tell them to change the internet game connection settings, they can select Manual Server Configuration and set the Server Address to yours.

How do I run pokertTH on my home server? I have read http://pokerth.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pokerth/trunk/pokerth/docs/server_setup_howto.txt?view=markup but I do not fully understand it. Can someone please tell me step by step in detail how to put PokerTH on my own dedicated server.

THANKS!

Probably you will have to compile the server. On Linux, I find that doable but for Windows or MacOS, I have absolutely no idea. So which OS are you using?

To compile the server on Linux is not more complicated than compiling the client, provided you don't disable pokerth_server.pro before qmake'ing: check the Wiki for some slightly outdated compiling instructions (update plz ;-) ), make sure you have all the -dev packages of all the dependencies, if you search the forum for compile/compiling you will find some hints and links.

Basically, you should do not much more than download the source, unpack it and use qmake pokerth.pro, sudo make, sudo make install in the source directory, then run /usr/bin/pokerth_server.

The release of version 0.6.4 shouldn't be very far off, by the way (days/weeks, not months probably), waiting for a bit might be a good idea.
