Disk Access for Log Writing 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Could it be that PokerTH is directly writing the log during the play? There seems to be constant disk access.

If yes, wouldn't it be better to keep the data in memory and flush to disk every, say, hand or game? Or maybe an option in MB of memory.

This is definitely better for notebooks in battery mode.

Thanks and keep up the great work! I have now been constantly playing for the last three days.

You are right. Every log action is also a disk access. May be we could add an option to do the disc log after every hand or game instead of constant disc access.

Logging could also be made optional altogether. This may have advantages in environments where memory and disk space are scarce (someday, I hope to gain the expertise needed to compile pokerth for my zaurus ).

At the moment, PokerTH is using around 80MB of RAM under Windows XP. I doubt this is due to logging... Is there any chance that this amount could be diminished?

If it's the same in Linux, I can forget about my zaurus then, the poor thing only has 64 MB RAM. Thanks for the heads-up

We talk about different ways to reduce disc-access and ram usage. Something of that will hopefully implemented in next version
