New to PokerTH and not sure where to begin. 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I would like to compile and build PokerTH but I am not sure where to begin.

I have read the forum and Wiki but still feel a little lost. I have a Windows XP Pro based system with Visual Studio Express 2005 and 2008, as well as Cygwin and an Apache22 Web development environment (built using the free Web.Developer Server Suite Community Edition from http://sourceforge.net/projects/webdeveloper/ )

I noticed that Visual C++ is no longer supported and I am not quite sure of what is needed to use MinGW.

There are some scripts available which help you to compile PokerTH for Windows using mingw. See

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=166634&package_id=268019

Thank you for your reply, I have downloaded and read the readme.txt file, I have the Cygwin version of mingw (cygwin/mingw) on my system, is there a way to use this version of mingw?

The script will download the proper mingw. Using cygwin might work, but you'll have to rewrite the script then, and you are on your own with that.

The script builds a native windows version. cygwin versions are usually "second choice" and only for the case that native versions are not available.

Everything downloaded and compiled without errors. However at the very end of the script I received the following Authentication error message:

The certificate is not issued by a trusted authority.

I selected p to permanently accept the certificate but no DLL files were copied.

I did not notice this until I tried to run the pokerth_build.cmd script.

Here is the end of the pokerth_download_libs.cmd script:

This script has finished. You may run the pokerth_build.cmd now

This is what alerted me to the problem:

Using "C:\pokerth" as base directory.

This script should be run AFTER pokerth_download_libs.cmd.

It will perform the following steps:
- Clean the current build of PokerTH
- Update the PokerTH sources from svn
- Build PokerTH from the sources

You may run this script again at any time, in case you
wish to update your version.

Press Ctrl+c to abort.
The process will start if you press any other key.
Press any key to continue . . .

Checking for an installation of Qt
Make sure to run pokerth_download_libs.cmd BEFORE this script.
Also make sure that you use the same base directory for both scripts..
