German translation 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 2
Hi,

here is the german language file based on rev. 1017. Great, the .ts files can now be attached directly

Go for 0.6!

Regards
Bernd

Hi,
I was curious and I have a (very) basic understanding of German, so I looked over your ts file.
Sorry about the long list of things: you have every right to say "go away, you're taking this way too seriously". Just trying to help with testing...

In ChangeCompleteBlindsDialog, for example, you translate Raise mode as Raise-modus, but Raise blinds as Erhoehe Blinds. The "raise mode" also refers to the raising of blinds (not raising during a hand), so I would think the translation would be something with Erhoehung. Or is there a specific reason?

Is there a specific reason to write
Benutze IPv6
instead of IPv6 benutzen because you use the full verb in most places (deaktivieren, loeschen)?

I don't mind about the Sie sollten sich nicht selbst des Spieles verweisen !
thing, but when using Sie, which is kind of formal, I think?, isn't the wink a bit informal?

In one place, you have
Sie wurden des Servers verwiesen (kick).
but in other places dealing with "verwiesen", the (kick) is not there. I think the (kick) can be omitted here as well. Also, there's the word "entfernen" in a few places where the source has "kick".

There's a double space in mainwindowimpl:
Der Server hat die Verbindung beendet.

Ctrl is sometimes translated as Strg, but not all the time. Is this right? (I have no idea how a German keyboard works.)

I like the timed out=Zeitlimit ueberschritten thing by the way, is this standard in German? I wanted to do a similar thing, but some friends of mine complained about it and I now have the equivalent of "dauerte zu lange"

Hi heyn,

thanks for your post. Yeah, please, just go away... Well, just kidding

I'd like to start with some excuses: I didn't do all translation strings by myself, I didn't touch the strings that have already been in the ts file. I have only added the missing lines. So, of course, if more people are working on the same file, some things can get mixed up

A default german keyboard has two keys named "Strg" (Steuerung). I have seen that there were also "Ctrl" parts in the ts file. Maybe there was a reason why this was not translated to "Strg" - I haven't asked yet

I will have a closer look at your hints tomorrow, sorry, I just wanted to go to bed now...

Regards
Bernd

Hi heyn,

I've updated the ts file.

Just go on, don't mind. I'm not in a huff. It's all right to discuss things. We both want to help with the game, won't we?

I put in "Erhöhungs-Modus" now. In the main window with the three buttons, one button has "Raise" as title in all languages as it is a bitmap. But you are right, the other labels also have Erhoehung so I chose the german word.

I changed that: IPv6/SCTP benutzen. I didn't change the "Benutze Passwort ..." because I didn't find alternate formulations that I liked.

Yeah, Sie is formal, but I don't mind the smiley. I don't like to change all of the other's work. I think doitux put that in...

I agree and I removed the kick words.

Is corrected

QUOTE:

As described in the post yesterday there are only "Strg" labeled keys where the English keys show "Ctrl". I changed all to "Strg" so it's uniform now.

Yes, this is standard. It can be translated back to "Time limit exceeded". "Dauerte zu lange": I thought about it, but I think it sounds a litle bit crazy

---
Edit:
In the language strings I put the German translation into parantheses. For example Italian: "Italiano (Italienisch)".

Well, this is the updated file:
