Automatically activating port forwarding or whatever using UPNP will circumvent security measures which are there on purpose. This is very bad in my opinion.

If you play on the internet server, no port forwarding is needed. For private servers, you have to set up the security as you wish. Even if you'd like PokerTH to set up the port forwarding, imagine that you'd run PokerTH from a company's PC or when you are with a friend, and it would automatically try to modify temporary router settings, now this would be really bad. This causes loads of security problems. PokerTH won't do such things, in my opinion.

You are right when you say that it should be no so safe, cuz it can open what port it wants but it works only if you enable UPNP in your router settings, so if you don't like UPNP don't enable it on you router!
In a company UPNP shouldn't be enabled.

For home user it's very useful, a lot of people don't know what is a port forwarding...

And in some cases it's more secure that manual forwarding.
With UPNP the port it's forwarded only when the server it's active, otherwise the port it's always forwarded...
What is more secure?

If i think that's ok and i've enabled it, why don't give me the possibility to use it?
It has no sense.

All people can play on the internet server. People who play in a LAN don't need port forwarding. People who set up a private server should know about port forwarding. This is not restrictive in my opinion.
