Hi,

at first of all: great Game
and with lan play itīs the best, unbeatable, freeware poker game of all
Keep it up!

and know my question:

what about a timeout if some player is away or do nothing for a certain time (default 30 secs / maybe a value on the Server). if it happens the server should automatically check if itīs possible, or fold the cards.

kind regards
kai

ps.: sorry about my bad english

how complex will artificial intelligence be in PokerTH future?

just some thoughts

Perhaps you can work with distributed computing - every connected pokerth-client working on a part of AI maths - or you can get statistics about what kind of players are playing TH and how they play.. and use the statistics for creating new AI game-strategies...

so AI could become stronger?

Sorry for bad english

Yup this is planned. The value for the timeout has yet to be decided but there will be a timeout and it will be checked by the server.

I really don't think distributed computing will ever be needed for a poker program, because the number of calculations required is quite small compared to what a single computer can do nowadays.

We are not talking about chess or something, where a lot of possibilities need to be considered.

Collecting statistics might be an idea, but it sounds more like "big brother is watching your playing style"... It would seem that most players would not like this.

Anyway, the engine already adapts to player behaviour (floty can tell you more about this ).

yeah, the server will need to handle this, or any hacker can modify the code to his needs

also, i dont find AI so necessary in server-client version though

IMHO, networking with AI will be the icing on the cake. I only play poker with one or two people at a time, and it's just not right. Throw in the AI bots (which are incredibly smart at times, others predictable - I can always tell who's got the aces ) and suddenly the game becomes that much better.

Keep up the good work, guys.
