Ahhh....

This is my third time writing this message so I'll be brief this time (somehow, the back button doesn't bring back the content of your message and timed-out sessions do not seem to forgive)

Here are my requests :

1) Translation / Language Packs : I would gladly maintain such a project as long as the software has some means of importing language files. I could start by doing French and Spanish translations.

2) Sounds : After reading the forums, this seems like a popular request. I agree that sounds would add a lot to the game experience. But since everybody might want to play while listening to music, a single-click should be enough to toggle on or off that option. "Sound packs" could be made available as a separate/optional component. Imagine having one sound theme speaking in a more formal British tone compared to another one sounding more cowboy-like with people heavily clapping after each round. I would also volonteer for such a thing.

3) Multi-User : I'm sure this is being asked a lot but what are the plans on this? (see point #4)

4) Roadmap : I believe adding a roadmap link (maybe adding also a permanent message directly in the request forum saying so) from your main menu portal would really help solve most of the questions fans may have regarding the future of the software. The forums are still small but as users will flock in by the thousands (maybe even millions, who knows?) nobody will be able to look for every possible request before adding their own. That will add up to a lot of redundant questions that might have already been answered before. That way, admins don't get fed up answering the same questions over and over and users are not under the impression that nobody gets back to them.

Hope that helps. I am really willing to help you guys in any manner (languages, sounds, hosting, even coding?). Let me know if I can be of any help.

Thanks for that great game and also for releasing it on Linux and on Windows as well. More great games like this means it's easier for us folks to convince people to migrate from one to another (from Windows to Linux preferably).

Alex

Hi reptileqc

1) Translation is planned for next version. We will see if there will be an extra language package or if translations where directly build in.
The Qt-Linguist will be to tool for building translation files. --> http://doc.trolltech.com/4.2/linguist-translators.html
French and Spanish would be great.

2) If there is sound it will be optional. Every sound-designer is welcome to build sound-themes for PokerTH. Please send such a sound-package to doitux@pokerth.net.

3) Network is currently in progress.

4) Roadmap is planned. Direct link in the forum is a good idea.

If you can build a sound-theme with free sounds without impinge upon third partys rights that would be great.

BTW: Release for MacOSX is also nearly done

Hi,

I tried to make a Dutch translation (maybe useful for testing purposes). Translating this kind of stuff is tricky sometimes. "Engine", for instance, translates to "motor" (similar to German, I think), but that's too literal, that's a motorbike or the engine of a car. So I went with the non-literal "simulator" (similar to German again?).

I think the actual buttons are missing in the translations file. To fold is "passen", "Fold" is "(ik) pas" (ik=I=ich). Raise would be tricky, that's "verhogen" or "(ik) verhoog" (erhohe(n)?) which is too long a word probably. Actually, the English words would also work, me and my friends say "fold" as often as "pas", same thing for "raise" and "verhoog", but that kind of defeats the purpose of translating.

Which brings me to the next point: if you are going to do translations, you should also do the logs in different languages and the buttons and everything, which is probably a lot of trouble to code. So: isn't this something for a later time?

heyn

edit: I tried to attach the file. Did it work?

Hi heyn

I have write "Engine" for german translation . I think it is a germanized word. But now as you said ... "Simulation" is also not bad ...

For now we decided to just translate the dialogs, help strings and warnings. Many users ask for this to get easier through the configuration. We think the terms: Check, Call, Fold, Raise, Bet are well known from TV or from hearsay. Otherwise it is easy to learn. Btw: There would be big problems with word-length for the three buttons text in german too.

Log-Messages should also be english IMHO because we need them in english for debugging and discuss in forum.

May be at a later date we will review the translation and do it another way.

I have added option to attach *.ts files <= 500KB.

Hi,

I'll try to attach the file. I hope it's any good. I won't be offended if you throw it out or change it completely

Thanks,
heyn

Hi

Because i cannot speak dutch i will just take it into svn Thx for translation.
BTW: There are some additional blank spaces shown as "(sp)" in the gui. May be its a bug in the linguist. Can you check this? Translation is added in svn revision 378.
