Anyway, you still need to start pokerth from a console to see a useful message about what's going wrong. I don't know for sure what the name of the binary is when you installed it like that, but it's probably
pokerth. You've started it before, so you must know.
By the way, it's not a bad idea to try the static binary. You have fewer dependencies that way, therefore fewer things that can be missing. And the installation process is a lot simpler, according to
