Hi Dune_Lord (and everyone else with the problem),
I just encountered the same problem, and since there seems to be no solution on the net (Google), I did some analysis myself.
The problem is simple...I installed PokerTH as root, into /opt. Now PokerTH tries to stat /opt/PokerTH-0.6/data/gfx/avatars/default/people/
when starting, to which it does not have execute (directory list) permissions. So either run the game as root, or (preferred) do on all directories under /opt/PokerTH-0.6
Oh, and to the developers of the installer, please change the directory permissions  .
