Dedicated Server: wrong version? 1 Year, 1 Month ago

Hello, I installed the pokerth server in Debian Lenny with
aptitude install pokerth-server
Worked fine and I can start it without problems. But when I try to connect with the Linux client 0.7.1 it tells me:
"The PokerTH server does not support this version of the game."
So I tried again with the client 0.6.4, but same result.
The server version is:
PokerTH server version 0.6.2
Network protocol version 4.2
What version of the client must I use?
Thx, Peter

For best results, the server version should match the client version exactly.
Would it be possible to compile the newest version of the server, which might be a problem if the dependency libs are also too old in debian lenny?

I wanted to set up this server for a group of numerous people for playing tournaments together. I think I cannot require them all to use a specific old version of the client. Those people go to the download section and load what they find there...
But I did an additional test. I installed Ubuntu Jaunty and installed server and client from the repository (with aptitude install). Contacting the server worked then, but after creating a table, the connection broke when trying to join the table: "An invalid network packet was received.
Please make sure that all players use the same version of PokerTH."
Server and client version are those in Jaunty:
PokerTH server version 0.6.3
Network protocol version 5.0
Client version 0.6.3
Then I checked out the last svn version on the lenny server and tried typed in "qmake" but got a strange:
QMAKESPEC has not been set, so configuration cannot be deduced.
Error processing project file: /opt/pokerth/pokerth/pokerth.pro

The qmake thing may be lenny picking up qt3 instead of qt4. You may need to refer it to the qt4 dev stuff if that's even available for lenny (it's Debian stable which is traditionally old, right?). There's some info in the Wiki (link on the left side of the pokerth website) that may help.
But if you're going to use Ubuntu, try the PPA, it has the newest stuff so no 0.6 versions anymore. 0.7.x has important fixes compared to 0.6.x. You can find the PPA through Download in the top bar of the pokerth website.

Hi all..
well I have the same problem
I installed thes server on my Ubuntu V-Server with
PokerTH-0.7.1 is available from the Debian repositories via, `apt-get install pokerth
configed the server, startet the server and it runs without failures.
Downloaded the windows PokerTH-0.7.1 client, same version as the server, and wanted to connect and got the message "wrong version" please download the version same as server??
What to do now?
Any suggestions?
EDIT:SOLVED downloaded a plain dedicated which I found via serveral searches, now the server runs.
