Pokerth on Debian Squeeze 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hey Guys and Girls,

i have wasted a lot of my time to install the server of pokerth on my debian vserver. First problem was the liboost Libary but after an update to unstable debian squeeze the problem is solved.

Now i can start the server and the version seems to be fit to the client version. In my process list in debian the pokerth-server is up but i cant connect to it. Always get the message "game was not found". When the server is down the failure changed to "server not found".

But my question, isn't there any config file or anything like that? Whats with the password protection and how can i set a password for the poker server?

UPDATE: Log file says: Missing files - please check your directory settings!

Hope anybody can help me and sorry for my poor english^^

THX

May be more complicated than I could help with, but I would have a few questions that might help others help you find the problem:

1. "Game" not found sounds unusual. You are using Internet Game (with correct settings configured in Settings) to connect to your server, right? Join Network Game will not work.
2. You are connecting over local network? No special firewall stuff? Or are you connecting to your server from the same machine, connecting to localhost?

Hi Debianpoker

Please read this first:
pokerth.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/poke...rver_setup_howto.txt

You will also find a lot of config values described here.
For the missing files error please check this:

The binary for the server is created in the bin/ subdirectory.
Move it to the main directory:
mv bin/pokerth_server .

Make sure your firewall allows port 7234 (IP/IPv6, TCP and SCTP).
If you wish to use a different port, allow this port in your firewall,
and continue the steps.

2.4 First run of the server (Linux)
------------------------------------

Run the dedicated server using the full path:
/home/username/pokerth/pokerth_server

It will not output anything and immediately return to the prompt.

I think (s)he may have used the debian pkg, to which this possibly does not apply.
Your advice about config is undoubtedly sound, though.

I have the unzipped version running from my desktop on debian. I simply click on pokerth.sh then a prompt comes up then I select "run" and it runs with no problems. I have all files in folder called PokerTH-0.7.1 on my desktop and it all runs fine from there. I hope this helps somewhat.
I made a shortcut to the .sh file on my panel..seems to work just peachy..
