I voted at 18:00 and after at 19:00 (when I saw my first vote disapeared). I voted before the vote of player '.parkralle' (I have the screenshot of my second vote).

I arrived in time to lobby [21:00] and the WEC table was open, with 9 players inside, I said hello to all them waiting the invitation. All them said hello except one and game started suddenly

Why my doodle's-vote has been deleted twice? (it was there at 20:40)
Is there any limit to win games or should I finish 2nd next game and let organization win for I can play ? Is it a new rule (actually speed of rules is 1 by sec, all them focused in me (please players check the progression of the rules) )?

Thanks in advance and good luck to everybody, enjoy is the most important.

For readers, please review the rules of WEC-Cup and you will see how 'DTR' (DowntheRiver) has being adding rule after rule just to don't allow me participate in Cup. I did nothing, I only played and I tried to win, being respectful with players (is not this the objective of Poker TH ?) but 'DTR' became angry with me after every time i won personally, with insults (all them registered, you were there Tila, you saw 'DTR' reaction after my last victory: "DowntheRiver: pffff you know where you can kiss me").

I see now that for 'DTR' instead of try to improve its Poker and try to win me with cards, 'DTR' prefers to disguise its 'own decision' as a 'WEC Community' decision. Amazing. Is it a democratic Cup or a controlled Cup only by 1 person?

Well, everybody knows me (I've played with all you) and I respect your opinion, It has been good play with all you and you are who decide, I acept your decision, but I prefer that cuppers tell to me their decision instead of only one angry person

About you 'DTR', I think you know that is registered all what you did during and since Ranking 5 (game titles, players and more). Yes, still carved in stone . Just in advance for you a little coincidence: the person that was harassing me last year threatened me saying that "my dead body would appear floating down the river"... You can imagine my surprise, when some days after, someone created a very similar nick... and started to open games with very significant names
..and more things... but next days... please 'DTR' check the meaning of words "lapsus clavius" because you will need to know them to understand my next post.

Sorry to WEC Players because that is not related with WEC-Cup, but I had enough with that people that laughed a lot of me last year (using me as a a element of distraction, a smoke curtain, for their actions) and they continue doing behind new disguises (this night I have discovered a new one, lol the player forgot to change its usual avatar and joined my game). Special apologies for der-yogi and Tila because you improve this place everyday and is my wish too, It is not my intention to damage or hurt, just show the trues even when I know I will be hated for that (indeed I was 3 months thinking about publish several things but I prefered to forget and forgive, but they have continued crossing limits). I hope you understand me. I only will play WEC if players consider I can.

See you.]]>

I was reading some posts about the requested improvements for the ranking system. I wanted to share some very interesting posts from last years discussing about this.

The actual ranking system is a open system with a lot of possible modifications and improvements, and actually the Poker TH Team told that is working to improve it, also with the ideas of several players with knowledge of maths and probabilities that are helping at forum.

Here I copy some links with useful ideas (in chronological order), maybe someone can suggest new ones or a mix of them, be patient with changes

'duckyfuzz' (08 May 2009):
www.pokerth.net/forum/15-features-reques...t=6&start=6#3160

'real' (03 Dec 2009):
www.pokerth.net/forum/15-features-reques...m-proposal.html#3886

'MichaelBrown' (11 Feb 2011):
www.pokerth.net/forum/29-score/5940-neue...ten-geldes.html#6082

'Maytsh' (09 Feb 2012):
www.pokerth.net/forum/29-score/8612-elo-a-poker.html#8612

You can add more links or ideas here. We have tried several times at forum to organize all them.

Personally, I think the ranking should evaluate each player on its own merits and circumstances, and the points obtained in every game should take into account, in some way, the rivals stats (ELO or similar modified). Regarding the number of games played, there are players who can play more than 500 per season while others do not have time to play the 100 required, so it might not be an important factor, but perhaps an added bonus. Perhaps use a logarithmic-system instead than a linear progression? (just an idea).

See you at games, enjoy is the most important.]]>

A table name will probably never be checked against the game settings. My suggestion is "look before you leap".

Check the settings of the game before you join it. Anyone who does not, deserves what they get.

Here's another recent post on the same topic about players trying to scam you with these types of false table names.]]>

Here's the bottom line.

1. The developers of this game know about the issues.

2. The developers are looking into how to resolve the issues to make it more fair to the serious players here.

3. There has been a recent turnover in the developer staff. Changes will come, but we are in a period of time where new developers are coming up to speed.

In the meantime... enjoy the game. If it helps, don't look at the rank position. Instead, look at the total number of games and the percentage of top-level placements within that total. (A player who has played over 100 games and places 1st, 2nd or 3rd in over 60% of those games is generally going to be a good player.)]]>

A good player start to play 100 games, and after three month, puff ! score is reset. Stop.

It's double hard to get first 10 positions, because:

In the mean time, "tricky" player do:
1) register a player, play ten games, if good strike, ok, try to play another ten games, if not, simply restart ...

2) point 1 is not enough for "tricky" player, because he usually is not so good, so he needs a "donkey partner"

give a check to Buzinaldo:
23 games: first 14 with "Mirtz_Pop", "Mirtz_Pop" play only 19 games ... obviously with Buzinaldo

ok, this is already discussed, but this is free poker, the ranking is the purpose to play a good table, and if not, go always allin and spend some time to play random.]]>

I think we should try to resolve problems within the community and find a way everyone can be happy with it.

Means: let us start again and forget what happened.

Nobody is excluded and nobody needs to leave.

Everybody is asked for reflection.

So there is no need for anybody to leave the WE Cup.

Please think about it and I hope you will change your decisions.

Start a new system ! Every player gets 100.000 $ .
Playing a tour will cost 10K $ . ONLY the top 3 get money ( as an example 50K to number 1 and 30K to number 2 and 20K to number 3.) All others loose 10K each.
In this way ( as with real money ) you have the best player with the highest amount of money.
no matter if you play 100 times a week or 1 time a month.
and btw - its a good training place.

I sympathize with the idea of counting only the first 3 in a 10 player sit'n'go. In real life/when played for money, I doubt there are many examples where you pay more than the first 3 of 10 players.

I fear, though, it would give even more incentive to do the unsensible All-ins in the first 5 hands (especially for mediocre players): since it doesn't matter if you finish 10th or 4th, they might want to gamble to have double or triple stack early on the get into the final 3.

OTOH, I very much like the idea of using a virtual currency as a measure. [I doubt that 100K vs. 10K/game is the best idea, since there are simply a couple of meaningless zeros there, but that's not really a problem.] Keep in mind: You'd have to be able to reload another initial amount of capital when you're broke (as otherwise you'd loose players on the way). But that's not a problem as the system can easily keep track of all amount you're virtually paying vs. those you virtually receive by finishing in the top 3.

Heck, this virtual cash system could easily be implemented in parallel to the existing ranking system?]]>

I would like to ask a favour for table administradors for tonight.
I am not signing the doodle for 22:00, because i don't want to committe my self saying that i will show and in the end i miss the cup.
Running against time is hard, and the most times, only know at the last minute if I am able to play or not.
So if i am at the lobby at that time pls count me in

@Grokly : Thank you very much to consider it.
It's very wise from you, not committing yourself with something you cannot, after.
In any case, I hope your answer is yes, if, it does not influence your personal life.
It would be a pleasure having you on board, but priorities come first, and wish you all the best.

@Tila : What a wonderfull research
I am very pleased to see the community involved in this project.
This things consume time and thank you very much for your work.

I my self am working in advertise for this project.
I caught a flight to Washington and talked with Barack Obama because the presidential elections are approaching.
The negotiations were extremely harsh.
I'll have to walk the Portuguese water dog, which is the mascot presidential (could be worse, he has my nationality, so I guess we will not have problems with language).
And in return he will scream at the end of his speeches

YES WEE KEND YES WEE KEND YES WEE KEND

GOD BLESS THE WORLD AND WEEKEND CUP'S

PS: I am not kidding !!!

...I realy know how to speack the Portuguese Water Dog language...

I don't want to exaggerate, but, since the ranking started, i made just on my own, 7 or 8 royal flushs and saw more than 10 in other players hands.
The curious thing is that i saw more royals than straight flushs.
And the royal draws it's realy impressive the frequency that they get out.
And Kontrol, that happens.
I my self already lost with 4 Aces against Royal Flush.
A guy enter all in with AA5 in flop, i called with 4 aces and he had J 10, and he got k q in turn and river.
I lost the hand but i laughed about 30 minutes ]]>

since the beginning of the ranking games (3 years?), you are among the best here.
for your honor, i can add that:
You never changed speudo combining the good and bad games.
Few here are in this case: you, Alfa1, Mavernick, ...
Therefore, it is not skills that are contested.
Now,

@ der_yogi

i fully agree with our points about respect, harmony and politenes, you

might find them in my terms of conversation happening.

But before you judge its been helpfull to collect some information, and then

come to a opinion or judgement. I wished win me?? would ever try this too....

I did ignore his recent posts a few days ago and gave him a good will bonus.

I tried to make him able to play final on friday and made a big mess out of

the original final date. He is used to express himself overated and calls it

all funny in the end. But after all its been hidden or open insults.

Well, i let him go on.

Tonight i just told him not to invite players himself and i am not going to

explain again why we introduced this rule for a better performance.

All i did was telling him to stop this, which of course is caused by his

lack of information. Thats the whole story, i got 8 other players who

witnessed the same and we all was wondering about the reaction.

So question is: who is overacting and insulting whom?

I am not wasting my energy anymore on this subject this case is closed.

Call me dominant, there are more important things to take care off.

I started this to get rid off the kindergarden.

A important tool in most of all forums is the ignore function
Nobody is deleted, but i can individually determine posts of trolls not showing up in the thread of my interest. It would be very helpful if you could implement this feature as you did in the lobby for the same reason.

The alternative would be to find a psychological help hotline for insects.

There is not much to add though i like to point out 20.00h tables have to start in time for second train not to be late. (Blindraise 22 hands create about a 2 hours game).

I am positive that our player pool is growing for a friendly group of 50 exellent players soon with this all in mind. Thanks god we can use our brains and hearts to welcome personally most of this new players and some prove anyway that they do not belong in here. bbbzz

Estimates range from 0,00015 % (pokerworld24) up to 0,003232 % (wiki).
I`ve got three here on pokerth. That`s nothing special, because i`ve played enough games.
A few month ago i`ve played a game with der-yogi, he will remember this
Game 1, hand 31, Tila shows royal flush, Tila wins 9.800
As i said, nothing special, just a nice hand,....but....

There are other problems which should be solved first.
1) First of all the cup needs a constant pool or stack of 30 or more players, which are reliable concerning to the rules of the cup. When 10 players signed the doodle and some of those can not play, they must sign out the latest one hour before the game starts. The doodle must be the ticket for the cup game, it makes it easier for the table admins. To search in doodle- or forum posts is an additional effort and pure waste of time.
2) Care should be taken that the players know as early as possible who are the table admins.
3) We should not play a cup table with 3 signed players and fill up with others (20:00 table). Too much time for searching good players, the game will start too late. It`s better to play a ranking game and wait for the 22:00 table.
4) The 22:00 table should not start before the 20:00 table is finished. Some players will play both tables.
5) When players break the cup rules again and again, they should be warned; the last consequence must be a disqualification. We need more discipline when the cup community expands.
6) Some players are only interested to play ranking games, they need to see their name in a "best of"-list May be a permanent wec-rank (glicko2?) is useful to get more players here, a special thread only for this?
7) Not least the players stats should be important for a wec qualification, also a humorous way to the others, respect, politeness,...aso. I know some good players with nice stats here, but with a bad character. The cup don`t need rotten eggs.
8) Looking across the "big pond" is a good idea to get more players from America and Asia. I remember "Grokly`s house of cards" with some good players, almost a fascinating, respectful and humorous table.
@ Grokly, jinks, otto-a : may be you can ask sgtspector, "river"-rabbit, beefjerky or some others to join the cup games. I´m sure we`ll find a table admin; i`ll look in the asian time zone for some candidates.
The points noted above (and some others) should be a prerequisite before we`ll start with live streaming. I think the big final of all monthly winners is the right time. With live streaming we`ll get a higher attention, everything must be perfect up to this time. When it works, we can think about monthly live streaming.
@ DowntheRiver, Nelly, YuGo :
Thank you for your private messages, i don`t forget and answer you asap.
Too much work these days

I want to make a request for advice to Admins (LuisCypher, doitux) or for who can know the answer.

We are playing a cup-tournament called initially 'Weekend Cup' or 'WEC', actually with more than 25 players:
www.doodle.com/59x5rufad39y9vag

Last weekend we played the April Semifinals, 2 tables of 6 players, being qualified for the final of this weekend the players 1st-2nd-3rd of each table.
We would like that the final table could be broadcast-streamed online.
I told to the players about the great experience of the Live Streaming of '2010 Xmas Cup Final Table':
www.poker-heroes.com/videos/livestream.html

Is it possible actually? can we live-broadcast the April Final Table?
Please, can you explain the steps to do this [Program-ConnectionRequirements-Etc.]?
The steps that I know:
> With the Live-Streaming program (I don't know wich one program is the best to use) define a window on desktop where the game window is located.
> Select in Poker TH Settings -> "Interface" -> "Show own cards only on mouse click".
> Stablish Connection with Live-Streaming Server.
> To prevent that other players can watch your own hand there are 2-3 additional measures:
a) Move, during some seconds, the game window out of the defined-broadcasted-window to check your cards with mouse clic.
b) Stablish a delayed time to broadcast the game, maybe 4-5 mins would be the best for the usual game of 12 sec.

Thank you very much for your help.
And greetings for the new team members (Poker need patience and steel nerves, and development too , don't worry about forum complaints about speed or server issues, the well done job is the one made little by little and is only appreciated with the judgment of time).
I read that 'Ankkah' is no more on Poker TH team, I played with him at '2012-Cup' and he is a good player, with patience and wise decisions, I wish the best for him for his future projects, I want to say a big thanks for his work and his support.

Hehehehehe, thanks HUGO, drinks+chips mmmmm, but I have a better idea sssssshhhh, we can distribute the bottles among the players, maybe this might be the only way to win them , I will add some relaxing music and zzzzzzzzzz, ready fot the heist¡¡¡

I think there are several problems with different reasons mixed: Synchronzation / Old-Versions / C++ Libraries / Resources-Program conflicts / Etc.
But personally I don't think that is related with the Poker TH program, I believe the reasons are external: internet speed, flow & available resources (for example play and see a video at same time (or download things) can produce lag and sync problems) / operative systems / compatibility issues with other softwares, etc...

Some days ago I wrote a post about the different Poker TH problems. You can read it here:
www.pokerth.net/component/kunena/14-bugs...94-crashed.html#9783

And the last year I gave some links to try to solve the problem related with C++ Libraries [NOTE: It's possible that new updated Libraries versions 2011-2012 can be available]:

How can I upload the log?

The log-file only gives you info about the game (cards, hands, players...) but not about the program performance, but thank you for your intention to improve and help.
If you want to attach files with size over 100Kb you can use compressed files and put them in some online-free-uploader-service and share the link for people can download them.

I hope this can be helpful for you.

Grokly what do you think?

Live Streaming of a pokergame
/ some problems to solve

1.One player in the game has to supply the software and the good connection capacity. (required streaming capacity ?)

2. This player will be handicaped hiding his cards every hand first in order not to reveal it to the rest of the table. Is this happening automatically? Or we install a 5 min delay from live, but still then the streaming player reveal all his cards. Example: www.poker-heroes.com/videos/livestream.html

In the upcoming final (6 players) would be easy to place am extra passive player on the table, but his seating affects the game by his SB/ BB.
So I do not see an easy solution on the long term.

Any players who own experience with the subject "livestreaming poker game"?
I tried already pokerth, no response so far:
www.pokerth.net/forum/15-features-reques...dividual-stacks.html

we`ll pass that river all together.

der-yogiiiii welcome back !
I see you got a beautifull tan.
And you are absolutly right.
There is a life beyond poker, but you have to agree in one thing.
Life is even magical if you can add poker in it.
Glad you are back and can't wait to make fun about the spot that did'nt got a tan, because you keep forgoting to take the bottle on top of your chest!

@DowntheRiver : Good idea for giving the opportunity to American players, and players all over the globe, for those that are interstead, more chances to participate.
Not easy to combine in a table people all over the world, so big cheer for your idea.
About your candidates, i bless them all, and could bless another...Grokly...a well known and respectable player here in PokerTh.

@ Codeman : I did'nt forgot the idea from your table for start streaming our matches.
I talk to DowntheRiver, and he suffers from the same problem as me.
I suppose he is from the same generation as i am, that when we wanted to listen some music we had to carry with a big stereo with 2 metters long on our shoulder.
So internet is not my thing either and God knows how am i able to start a post here
But i do remember that you mention on a software program.
If you manage to do that we both will be in eternal gratitude.
It would be a bigger chalenge see 5 minutes after how big we got bluffed or how stupid we feel for letting go a valid hand
And even a bigger challenge trying to read that same opponent after a major bluff.
Unfortunally i will not have much time to play the next days, so the only way i can reach you is trough here and not trough the software, so i look forward for your feedback.
Is it possible for we to start streaming ?
Can you do it with a program ?
Can you teach us how master? eheh
Would be a big step ahead.
Thank you in advance Codeman

PS: What it depends on me we are here to solve the problems you mention in mail DowntheRiver.
As far as i am concern, after playing the games here with you all, full of fun moments, and time well spend, with some realy skill players, all of them with theyr own style i don't imagine my self going back so soon to average ranking tables where callers, compulsive raisers, all inners, and realy rude people , what should be a pleasant, and competitive game, make me wanting to click lobby button almost every time, is a constant.
So my guess is, with a important contribution from all that realy enjoy this games, we come to stay.

@ Emmeler : The team speack is also a great idea.
We should discusse that too

Once again my special thx to DowntheRiver,*DamnRiver,Nelly,Tila,Emmeler, hata,Codeman and all the others that make this possible, your ideas are never too much.

Another PS: Do that Codeman, and i will special deliver you all my chips, a bottle and a cup...not for this necessary order...first i make you drunk...perhaps you forget the chip part...

In order to give our American friends (South and North America) a better chance to join us regulary in the WEC games we are searching for a reliable table admin for this time zone to take care of late night games. We could extend our WEC doodle like am 3.00 (UTC time +2) in the morning European time. This would provide some European night owles the chance to challenge and meet other continents.

Candidats could be:

edward (come on, you are a pioneer here!)
jinks
(we are you anyway?)
otto-a (if you like)

further suggestions?

Your responsibilty as reliable table admin would be:

- Be in time for opening the table
- Invite according the doodle priority
- check the qualification and stats of new players
- stay in the game until last hand in order to provide the logfiles
- post the result of the game in our WEC results thread

Come on America, we like to have a World championship of pokerth soon!

On the other hand, the ranking system rewards a nitty player who plays only to survive to the last 3. There are many such players who are highly ranked. They are decent players, but how good are they? It's not clear. The rankings say they are good. It depends what the objective is. Here there is no money at stake - so the goal is to get ranked highly - in this sense they are playing a style well adapted to the goals, so have to be considered good.]]>

Don`t waste energy filer, he was explained this several times in the forum - quality needs time. There are people out there who carry wisdom beyond our horizon. ups, not enough smilies to support the sarcasm here

Regardless frustration i will try to answer serious or really funny posts:

The ranking quest by Groucho:

Why do we plan for a later Ranking system? Just because its a "nice to have" and we are lucky for hata working on a sufficent one - as Yugo explained. Some want- some dont- thats all. Beside, poker has always been competitive. Why is there a winner in a poker game anyway? Why do you have records in sport? Why do you climb mountains? Why making babies? ok, no populism. ^^

Right, i make myself stand in the corner and shame dulux - we will have a deep drag on the pipe, could you please pass some more ingredients and instead John Denver i prefer good old Jimmy please.

Hi Groucho Marx
I created another treath here in the forum, just to put the scores, not because of the ranking, but with the only porpuse of helping us know who is going to play the final tables, as i talked to DowntheRiver before the ranking idea, about posting the results.
I saw 2 players that signed the Final tables, and i lost 25 minutes searching here in this post, to know exactly the games they won or if they already had play with us.
My final answer was no.They did'nt.
And answering to your question if we need a ranking system for us, my answer is no, we do not.
But it would be nice to know the nº of hands we won, lost, the agressiveness, or the tight game we do here.
That help us to improve, know the mistakes we do.
I don't know what kind of work filer is doing right now, or if it possible to know this details with the logs that we send him, so i will wait and see.

Regardeless that people are mad just because they could'nt get in in tables, let me remind that last week i asked here in this same post who was able to do a late game that day.
Groucho Marx, win me??, and Nelly answered afirmative to my question, and thx again for doing so, but, i did'nt saw anyone waiting for me for that same game.
Did i get mad?
No and i did'nt had the right.
Instead i come here and said that i should had said the beggining time for that same table.
I learned from my mistake and i will remember everytime i ask someone to have a game.
Never forget the time
Everytime we get mad, for every setback that we will have, this is doom to fail.
Like i said before lets all be patients, everyone have the moral obligation of at least doing theyr best for things to go well, because we all have a part on this and this is for US.
Exposed the problems to DowntheRiver? Yes and we should.
Get mad with him, despite he trys his best? That's wrong.

Ranking would be just an objective way to measure the players skill ?

But that is just me.

Sorry, thought I had signed up to the cup when you asked but looks liked it didn't save. All signed up now though and hopefully not too late! From reading the last few posts, seems things have gotten a bit hot under the collar.

Without body language and tone of voice, it's pretty easy to take the wrong meaning from a post, just as easy as it is to jump into action mode and get a game started that is running late, accidentally forgetgin to wait for others.

No one wants to be sitting around the cup table in silence because half the table aren't talking to each other for one reason or another. No one is perfect and we all make the same mistakes.

How about we all forgive, forget, take a chill pill, pass the peace pipe around and remember why we all play the cup in the first place?]]>

we hope you can fulfill us this tiny feature request?

A important tool in most of all forums is the ignore function

Nobody is deleted, but i can individually determine posts of trolls not showing up in the thread of my interest. It would be very helpful if you could implement this feature as you did in the lobby for the same reason.

The alternative would be to find a psychological help hotline for insects.

Thank you in advance

win me??

after i tried hard to give a newcomer winner a chance to play the final on Friday and messed up the fix final date of Sunday just for you (which i will never do again). Now, i can not believe your post here.

Nelly and me explained what happended even we had not to.

But now you call me twice a liar
- no matter how much smilies you place behind this.
I got nothing to talk with you about WEC anymore, but here is an advice for free:

1. Try to read postings first!
2. Try to think and understand
3. Think again before you comment

Hi DowntheRiver and All : I created this post so that the results can be posted there, to don't get lost at the 46 pages that we have already.
I ask all the participants that want to post the results also do it here:

Am i correct?
WEEKEND CUP is growing, more and more people is starting to join us, we already have almost 22.000 views just for this topic and Rome was'nt made in a day.
Things like this takes time and noone here can dedicate his/her full time to develope this.
So it's our responsibility as well help DowntheRiver the best we can.
And we will have more setbacks till we reach the quality in organization and other problems that might come along.
It's up to us to think what we want.
Personally i rather have the last position in every games here at WE CUP, then being 1th ten times in a row in a normal average ranking game.
So please peace, love, a lot of dancing, and most important, lets have a lot of fun playing here among our Poker mates.

Drive safelly Emmeler and don't hit the horn everytime you see a running fugitive thinking that might be me ]]>
