The client only runs on an X-Server - any minimum Desktop System like Openbox should fit your needs for the game.

... and using the client by remote side: as it is based on an x-server/desktop-system - install a vnc server for example - you can then connect with a vnc client to the machine and use the desktop => the pokerth client

... from outside your lan - check router port forwarding settings - vnc requires a specific port.

After all this, I am a little disappointed. I thought all I would have to do is browse to the server and join a table. I didn't realize you would need to VNC into the server.

Well, for me it would be hard to play poker without any graphics = only console based.

Its a question of concept.

... but maybe we are talking of different things? The pokerth Server itself is ofc only console based - and you can connect to it with the pokerth client. But Im not sure how experienced you are with server client concepts in general.
