Sorry, I only just found out myself that special characters don't work and I have no control over the forums (no admin powers or anything). Doitux is the webmaster, you could contact him.

If you want to e-mail me about something, you can find my e-mail address by searching for gmail on this page:
http://pokerth.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pokerth/trunk/pokerth/ts/pokerth_nl.ts?view=markup
(sorry for the hassle, I want to make it a bit more difficult for any spammers to pick up my e-mail address)

I'm available now and again on the #pokerth channel too, but even if I'm in the channel I walk around a lot so I might not reply immediately (was it you who contacted me about half an hour ago?)

Speak to you soon.

So here's the promised post:
By the way Doitux told me, that special characters won't work.

At first, thank you for appreciation. ;)

Now for the issues:

Show/Hide Hands Window - Oops - corrected

Nizozemsky/Holandsky - You're right about that. I wrote "Holandsky" because this term is most common at my country. Nevertheless I rewrote it to "Nizozemsky" now.
But I think, that would be more user-friendly if every language will be wrote in its language. Like in Languages toolbox at wiki sites.

Accelerator for "j" - I solve this out by rewriting "jakekoliv" to "kterekoliv", which have the same meaning.

"hra hrace" - Oops, I forgot to press Shift. - corrected

And finally for the action translations. - This is really tough job. It is hard for me to decide which words may stay in original form and which to translate. And if I decide to translate something, there is almost always more then one possible translation. So I'd really like to know some more Czech users opinions.

Here are some terms that I've already translated and some for that I couldn't find the right translation.

Komunita je vzdy lepsi nez jednotlivec! Takze tady je vyzva pro Vas! Pomozte mi prelozit nize uvedena slova tak, jak si myslite, ze jsou zazita ve spolecnosti. Cim vic se Vas zapoji, tim lepe. Budu vdecny za kazdy napad.

For the languages I agree that it's a bit difficult to change it back once you've accidentally set it to Chinese :-)
For Dutch translation I copied another translator's idea to do a bit of both, like this:
Magyar (Hongaars)
Norsk (Noors)
Svenska (Zweeds)
Slovensky (Slowaaks)
but just using the name of each language in that language would also be a good solution.

Regarding the actions on cards and on the raise/check/call/fold buttons: this would be done with graphics and defined in the table style, you've seen the 'Ignore poker keyword translation from style' option so those translations can be separately ignored (replaced by English) as well. Which is currently a bit silly as there are no French-only styles or something.*

But because it's so optional you can make it suitable for complete poker newbies who speak your language, make it educational. I thought about which terms I would use if I was teaching somebody to play. And I wouldn't immediately use the word 'Raise' in such a situation, but the Dutch word used in other card games which means 'make it go up' (where 'it' = the amount of money in the pot).
For hand names, I don't know if Yahtzee was ever popular in the Czech Republic but if it was, whichever translated 'hand names' were used in that game can also be used for reference. Weirdly, the Dutch version used a mix of English, French and Dutch (Three of a Kind, Carre and Straat), but I digress.

For terms like blinds, which are in the options a lot too, you would have to please both poker newbies and people who like 'pure' (i.e. English) terms: maly blind is probably fine.

Anyway, if I were you I'd wait for a bit to see whether people are really enjoying your translation and wanting more: join a few Hra hrace games :-) and ask for feedback.

Thanks again and maybe I'll see you on the server.

Hi all!

With 0.8-beta1 out I hopped on to Czech translation again and here is the result:

which I'd like to ask you to include in official package.

Besides translating the new strings I also corrected some mistakes from my previous translation.

Also you can see a big change is in the language selection combo-box. There I translated English names of the languages to their own language. This should ease selecting language for those who don't know English name of their language. BTW this principle is used on Wikipedia and various other international projects.

While I was translating I noticed a few untranslatable strings. You can see their summary on these images . Another strings are in game/right toolbox Log/ "posts", "calls", "bets", "folds", "is all in with", "shows", "has", "wins", "sits out", "checks" and "wins game".

Also I'd like to ask what is the status about "Don't translate poker strings like check, call, raise from game table style" option?

And my last question regarding translation. Will you please notice me (on e-mail would be best) when new version - beta or final - will about to release?

Ok at first the untranslateable strings in most dialogs is about i didnt update the ts files with the new strings which are introduced in 0.8 beta1. I will do this now and commit them into svn.

About log: before we have a real replay/debugging function in pokerth which helps debugging foreign logs we need the english strings for debugging.

best regards
