It is simple darts... if for any reason we need to modify the dates for the Cup, lets make it easy. That doesn't mean that this Cup should not be run on Tuesdays. Actually, I believe running the games on Tuesdays is fine. I just think that calling the tournament "Fibonacci Tuesday Cup" is putting a limitation that should not be set in the name. It could be as well named "Fibonacci Friday Cup" or "Fibonacci October Cup", and I would be objecting in the same way.

Take the example of the WEC. The WEC (stands for Week End Cup) was initially conceived as a... Weekend Cup . Over time the WEC developed as a daily event, and now the admin board is considering changing the name of the Cup because the name no longer represents the current nature of the Cup. Same with Fibonacci Tuesday Cup. I never said it should not be celebrated on Tuesdays, just that it should not be stated rigidly in the name.

Hi!

I gave this name, Fibonacci Tuesday Cup cause i thought that it was an top-easy way to indicate to everybody the answer to the question I receive ALL the time : When do we play ??

The answer is easy : on tuesday.

Why tuesday ?

Originally, i thought that playing on tuesday was a good way of having most of the good players in the Cup. Maybe to many bingo players if it was a FSC (Saturday or Sunday Cup...)

This is a little bit elitist, i knew it. But it was my conception of the Cup.

Personaly, i do not think that changing the name of this new cup is a good idea. People just begin to know it, if we change the name, they will get more confused.

The other BIG idea that i had at beginning was to create a Weekly event.
Not a daily, not a monthly event, but a weekly event.
I'm particularly attached to this concept : just frequent as I like (opinion will be appreciated about that).

Dartz501 is right : My announces in the lobby were too little.
I created a video but it was maybe not really appreciated.
All help with that will be really nice :)

I think that to big problem with my view of this Cup is that people are not really used with new kind of Cups.
They maybe think : Oh a new Cup ? great, where can I register ?
They seem not to think : Oh a new Cup ? great, where can I read the rules ?

Nobody expected new rules for this new cup.

So, what should we do ?

1 - Explaining the rules ?
or
2 - Changing the rules ?

The rules are explained very clearly. Changing the rules a good possibility as I have mentioned in past posts. I think the problem is that non scorers cannot replay and again, the Cup NEEDS many new players. I also offer to help promoting the Cup in the lobby as I am playing daily in BBC and at night.

Hi I-knew-it:

Thanks for sharing your point of view. If you look back at this thread, right in the first post you wrote:

Why the Fibonacci Cup ?

I want to call this cup the Fibonacci Cup for different reasons :

  1. Fibonacci was a great mathematician
  2. He was born in Pisa, where i have ate the best pizza of my life
  3. He gives his name to a wonderfull mathematical following
  4. And finally, i find this name very class :D

I-knew-it, as you can see, the Cup originally wasn't conceived with Tuesday in the name, althought it was pretty clear to me that it was going to be on tuesdays. In that same post you wrote:

When ?

I project to have the cup played weekly, on the tuesday evening.
Inscription will be opened during the monday.

Emphasis in the original

Personaly, i do not think that changing the name of this new cup is a good idea. People just begin to know it, if we change the name, they will get more confused.

I respect your opinion on this I-knew-it, but I am conviced that changing the name from "Fibonacci Tuesday Cup" to simply "Fibonacci Cup" is not going to cause that much confusion as you may think. With the sole exception of Paolo Ita, which by the way, is not very proficient with the english language by his own admission, I am not aware of any other player that have expressed confussion about the dates. For what I have seen, players are mostly confused for the rules instead.

So, what should we do ?

1 - Explaining the rules ?
or
2 - Changing the rules ?

Even though both darts501 and I believe the rules are clear, those rules still caused a lot of problems, something that you even experienced first hand. Rules must change, I have no doubts about it.

Think about this:
The best rules are not those that are more neatly or clearly expressed. The best rules are those that are easier to follow.

Sorry for the ingle if translated. The FTC is a nice idea. the fact on Tuesday not see it as a problem. It 'a day like any other.

I-Knew-it has put a lot of effort to formulate and explain it. Unfortunately, some steps were not even clear to me. But through no fault of the designer, but because sometimes the translation is not the best. I think for those who do not speak English as well as I devonoesserci of "records" easier. That's it.

The work of the Knew-it-I think it is superb! He works hard for us. I do not know how to help him physically, but who has the skills and is interested I think it's well accepted.

Good game everyone!

This was just to explain the reason of Fibonacci in the name ... :silly:
