It's a bit awkward for me to hold Fn+F1,F2,F3. More difficult than using the trackpad.

Would be great if I could change them in the settings to left, down, and right arrow, or whatever works best on my system.

The hotkeys are F1 - F4. If your laptop requires to press Fn, then it's the way it is on it. You can change this behaviour in the BIOS on most laptops. On my laptop it's calles "Hotkey Mode" under "Configuration


If you're on linux you could try to remap these keys with xmodmap.

Thank you, turns out I can easily lock the Fn key (didn't realize on a new laptop). No need to mess with the BIOS.

Remapping sounds like a better option so I can make the keys easier to reach. It looks like I should be able to create shortcuts to launch different mapping profiles, or to quickly enable/disable a remap. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
